    On October 16th and 17th, Mr. Andy Wright, a famous international story teller, came to SSIS and gave some highly interactive storytelling performances in the auditorium. Students and teachers were invited to attend these sessions. This whole event was aimed to promote the love of literature among SSIS Primary School students.
    Many students expressed that they really enjoyed these vividly told stories. This event enhanced their English listening skills, encouraged the use of their imagination and allowed them to experience diverse cultures.

    Philosophy
    The Shanghai Singapore International School library Media Program is based on real-life learning experiences in an open, risk-free setting where students feel safe (emotionally, socially and physically) in order to help them reach their full potential as learners and people. By creating information and technologically literate students, and challenging them to be thoughtful, ethical and knowledgeable users of information, in conjunction with developing their analytical and communication skills; SSIS students will become creative problem solvers and critical thinkers armed with the necessary tools to be productive and proactive members of our global society. Additionally, the SSIS Library Media Program is based on the premisethat students should become life-long readers for both enjoyment and the gaining of knowledge which will enrich not only their lives but the lives of others around them.

    Rewewal of books:
    Each student can renew books once only for another 14 days:
    - on or before the dure date in person with the student library card.
    - on condition the books are not on reservation list.
    Reservation of books:
    Each studnet may reserve books on the Reservation Form. Reserved books are held for 3 days. Reservation privileges are as follows
    - Nursery-G6 students may reserve 1 book at one time
    - G7-G10 students may reserve up to 2 books at any one time
    - G11-G12 students may reserve up to 3 books at any one time
    Lost books/ damaged library materials:
    For every book lost or damaged, the student is liable to
    - fines of twice its cost price. OR
    - an EXACTLY same book as the one lost/ damaged
    Leaving the school:
    Students must return all library books when leaving the school. The school report card will be withheld if outstanding fines and liabilities are not settled in full.
