The Shanghai Singapore International School Library Media Program is the focal point of the development of lifelong learners with the knowledge and skills to be successful in and out the classroom now and in the future.
Mission
The mission of the Shanghai Singapore International School Library Program is to help cultivate students that have a true passion for life and love for learning. The SSIS library Program in conjunction with all faculty members will provide a holistic, well-balanced education, within a caring and nurturing environment to create resourceful, confident, caring, ethical and independent learners that are and will continue to be highly contributing members of society.
Philosophy
The Shanghai Singapore International School library Media Program is based on real-life learning experiences in an open, risk-free setting where students feel safe (emotionally, socially and physically) in order to help them reach their full potential as learners and people. By creating information and technologically literate students, and challenging them to be thoughtful, ethical and knowledgeable users of information, in conjunction with developing their analytical and communication skills; SSIS students will become creative problem solvers and critical thinkers armed with the necessary tools to be productive and proactive members of our global society. Additionally, the SSIS Library Media Program is based on the premisethat students should become life-long readers for both enjoyment and the gaining of knowledge which will enrich not only their lives but the lives of others around them.
